- Profile building: In order to make your profile look awesome, fill in all the columns mentioned, which enables the recruiters to find you in the first place. Mention the skills, internships & what people think of you which give clarity to the recruiter about you. So don’t be lazy – fill out every section of the profile. LinkedIn will actually measure the completeness of your profile; follow the suggestions given by LinkedIn to make your profile stronger & standout.
- Profile Picture: Choose a professional profile image, because an image can go a long way to convey energy, charisma, energy levels & other skills that are hard to write.
- Headline: Write a headline which showcases your speciality & skills. The more specific headline can outsmart the competition and can make you the best choice.
- Target Job Description: Use this column to your advantage, take a good look at all the job descriptions of different companies for your targeted position & dump all the skills. Recruiters will be using these skills as key words to search for the suitable candidates.
- Summary: Don’t even dare to waste this summary space, ideally it should be 3-5 short paragraphs with bullet points of the skills, unique qualifications which makes you a better person over the competition.
- Groups: Join groups related to your area of expertise, industry & interests which gives you opportunity to connect with people who are in your target audience. When people look at your profile, they can know about your brand by looking at your groups.
- Endorsements: Know your top five strengths for which you want to be recognized & ask your network to endorse you for your top skills, which will influence those who’re looking at your profile.
- Connections: Get at least a minimum of 500+ connections which widens your target audience & also the magical 500+ in your profile has a psychological impact on those who view your profile.
- Recommendations: Ask people with whom you’ve worked on projects previously to write a recommendation on LinkedIn.
